The Cerise Noire de Bâle (Black Cherry of Basel) is regarded as one of the finest cherry varieties in the world. It is cultivated on the Upper Rhine plain, where tall-stem cherry trees are a defining feature of the Basel region’s landscape.

Thanks to the region’s particularly mild climate, this variety develops a generous, fruity aroma with a naturally balanced sweetness. Ponthier selected this cherry for its purées because it guarantees consistent flavour intensity, natural sweetness and a striking, deep purple colour.
